How to Generate Expenses Reports on Tyms

Tyms makes it easy to track business spending, monitor vendor performance, analyze major expense items, and manage outstanding bills, all from one dashboard.

The Expenses Module on Tyms is where you manage all costs incurred from purchasing goods or services for your business. Expenses represent money paid to vendors, suppliers, and service providers for business operations. Under the Expenses Module, you can manage Bills, Expenses, Recurring Bills, and Prepaid Expenses.

All expense transactions recorded here automatically reflect in your Expense Reports, helping you monitor spending, control costs, and manage cash flow effectively. To access your expense analytics:

  1. Log in to your Tyms account via app.tyms.io

  2. Navigate to Reports at the bottom of the sidebar

  3. Click the Reports dropdown

  4. Select Expense Report

  5. Choose the specific expense report you want to view

You can:

  • Filter by date range

  • Export reports in Excel format

  • Analyze spending patterns

Types of Expense Reports

Tyms provides multiple expense reports to help you track vendor spending, expense categories, taxes, and cost distribution across your business.

1. Expenses by Vendor

This report shows how much your business spends with each vendor or supplier.

Report Table Includes:

  • Vendor : Vendor name

  • Expense Count : Number of transactions recorded

  • Expense Amount : Total amount spent

  • Tax Amount : Total tax paid

  • Discount Amount : Total discounts received

  • Expenses Without Tax : Cost excluding tax

This helps you:

  • Identify top vendors

  • Track supplier spending

  • Monitor procurement costs

2. Expenses by Category

This report shows which expense category (Chart of Accounts) your business spends the most on, such as Transportation, Subscriptions, Wages & Salaries, etc.

Report Table Includes:

  • Account : Expense category or Chart of Account the expenses are posted to

  • Count : Number of transactions recorded

  • Amount : Total amount spent

Useful for:

  • Cost control

  • Budget planning

  • Expense analysis

3. Expenses by Tax

This report summarizes expenses that include tax.

Report Table Includes:

  • Name: Tax name or taxed expense

  • Percentage: Tax rate applied

  • Tax Amount: Total tax paid

Helps with:

  • Tax tracking

  • Compliance reporting

4. Expenses by Team Member

This report tracks expenses recorded by team members.

Report Table Includes:

  • Team Member : Name of the staff member

  • Expense Count : Number of expenses recorded

  • Expense Amount

  • Tax Amount

  • Discount Amount

  • Expenses Without Tax

Useful for:

  • Monitoring spending responsibility

5. Expenses by Department

This report shows expenses grouped by department.

Report Table Includes:

6. Expenses by Branch

For businesses with multiple locations, this report shows spending by branch.

Report Table Includes:

  • Branch : Branch name

  • Location : Branch location

  • Expense Count

  • Expense Amount

  • Tax Amount

  • Discount Amount

  • Expenses Without Tax

Supports:

  • Location-based cost tracking

  • Multi-branch financial analysis

7. Payables Aging Report

The Payables Aging Report shows outstanding bills and unpaid amounts owed to vendors, categorized by how long they have been due. This report helps you monitor what your business owes suppliers and manage upcoming payments effectively.

Report Table Includes:

  • Vendor : Vendor or supplier name

  • Currency : Transaction currency (e.g., USD, EUR, NGN, GBP)

  • 1–30 Days : Amount overdue within 1–30 days

  • 31–60 Days : Amount overdue within 31–60 days

  • 61–90 Days : Amount overdue within 61–90 days

  • Over 90 Days : Long-overdue payables

  • Due Soon : Bills approaching their due date

  • Total : Total outstanding amount owed
