Priority (When Uploading a Bank Statement)

When uploading a bank statement, it is crucial to ensure that the last transaction in your statement matches the bank balance shown on your dashboard. This accuracy depends on correctly setting the Priority column in your Excel sheet.

What is Priority?
The Priority number defines the order of your transactions. The transaction with the highest Priority number will be recognized as your final bank balance.

How to assign Priority:

  • Assign Priority numbers starting from 1 for the oldest transaction and increase sequentially until the last transaction.

  • The highest Priority number should represent the most recent transaction on your statement.

Example:
If your bank statement contains 200 transactions from January 1 to February 28, 2025:

  • Priority 1 = January 1 transaction (oldest)

  • Priority 200 = February 28 transaction (most recent/final balance)

Important Tips:

  • Always assign Priority numbers in chronological order, from oldest to newest.

  • For transactions that occur on the same date, higher Priority numbers must be given to later transactions on that specific date to ensure the correct final balance.

Example with same date transactions:
If your statement for January 1 – February 28, 2025, includes:

  • 4 transactions on February 27

  • 5 transactions on February 28

The last Priority number (e.g., 100) must be assigned to a transaction on February 28, not February 27, to reflect the correct final balance.

Uploading multiple batches:
If you upload another batch later, continue Priority numbering from where you left off. For example, if the first batch ended at 200, start the next batch at 201 and continue upward following the chronological order.
