How Halvest moved from spreadsheets to books that keep up

An SEC-licensed investment manager replaced Google Sheets and Excel with Tyms. Transactions now post themselves and reports are ready whenever the team needs them.

“Tyms has really assisted our finance and investment operations significantly since we started using them.”

Before

Halvest is a digital investments company offering sharia-compliant alternative investments, from business financing and real estate to non-interest commercial paper, to affluent individuals in Africa and the diaspora. It holds an SEC licence as a fund manager, which is helping it grow its customer base and assets under management.

Before Tyms, the team recorded and analysed everything in Google Sheets and Excel. As the company grew, that manual process stopped working.

What changed

Tyms was introduced by Halvest's CEO. The team now uploads large batches of transactions at once and processes them quickly.

Information is recorded automatically as transactions are entered, and posted to the right ledgers. At the end of the month, or any time, they open the reports section and download whatever they need.

What is different now

Finance and investment operations now run far more efficiently. Without Tyms, Abdulmalik says, the work would be more tedious and stressful for the team.

He also points to support: when an issue comes up, the Tyms team responds quickly and, when needed, schedules a meeting with the right people to resolve it.
